Hi Everyone,
My Erosion Control Project at the Mosquito Hill Nature Center is scheduled for Saturday, August 16, starting about 10:00 am. This project is for the Hornaday Conservation Award.
I am requesting Scouts and parents confirm if they are going to be able to help on that day. You can email me at Events@bsatroop50.info or call 954-9293,
Scouts need to wear work clothes and **important** work gloves. We will be putting landscape timbers onto a trail and will be using rebar.
Parents, I am requesting help with tools. We will need a few picks, shovels and sledgehammers or large mallets to drive the rebar.
We will be using precut rebar and the timbers will already be drilled and placed where they will be required. We will be using a power edger to dig the trenches for the timbers. (Thank you Mr. Evans for arranging the rebar and the power edger!!!)
Please get back to me as soon as possible if you can help me with this project. Remember that these are service hours that count toward your rank advancement.
I will be at Gardner Dam Camp this week, but you can call my Dad (Matt Knight, number listed above) with any questions or suggestions.
Thank you so much for your help!!
Anders

UPDATE

Hi Everyone,
I apologize to everyone who has already set aside time in their schedule to help me this upcoming Saturday at Mosquito Hill for my Hornaday Conservation Project. I learned today when I went to Menards to pick up the composite timbers that were going to be used that the timbers are on back order, and won't be available for at least a month due to flooding of the factory.
The project is not canceled, just postponed until the timbers are available again. It is important to use the composites due to the low impact they have on the environment there, not to mention the durability. There is currently no set date for the project, but when the timbers are available the date will be set and I will inform everyone as soon as I can.
Thank you all for promising your time to help me make my project a reality, it means a lot to me. I hope to see you all at the rescheduled time!
Please call or email me if you have any questions.
Anders
